The History Behind Bouquets by Brochu

During the planning process of my own wedding I quickly realized how my dream wedding and my my small budget weren't going to work. My now husband, Zack, and I began researching and planning on how to cut down costs and what we would be willing to sacrifice. Beside the venue fee and food I was shocked to see they next most expensive category was going to be my wedding flowers. I had always pictured by wedding day with large, extravagant floral arrangements and huge bouquets, so I was heartbroken to realize that it would take a miracle or winning the lottery for us to be able to afford flowers and food.

As a recent graduate nurse during the pandemic I had time on my hands while studying for the boards which really allowed me the opportunity to brainstorm how I could accomplish the florals I wanted. I began practicing with grocery store blooms to make bouquets of all different sizes and shapes. But I quickly realized I wasn't going to be able to have the time or resources the week of my wedding to make any large arrangements or even centerpieces.

I ended up settling on doing real flowers for my bouquets, made by myself, and would use fake flowers for everything else. During my two year engagement I spend hundreds of hours researching, designing, arranging and taking apart (more times than I would like to admit) different arrangements. I became more confident with my skills and truly became proud of the work I was completing. I didn't think much of the process until I started sharing my wedding details with friends and family. It was then I realized that I wasn't the only bride with this problem, there was a huge need in the wedding business for these products. After settling down a few months after the wedding one of my close friends reached out to me asking if I could help her with her florals for her wedding that summer. I immediately fell in love with the process all over again and started to put together the pieces of opening my own business.

Three weddings later I made the jump to open Bouquets by Brochu as an offical LLC and are ready to begin taking clients from all over New England. My designs are not limited to weddings, they also make for the perfect birthday party, bachelorette, bridal shower, or baby shower.
